As of early 2019, this applied to engines with power ratings from 0 to 56 kW and above 130 kW, and as of 2020, it also includes engines in the intermediate range\u2014that is, those with power ratings between 56 and 130 kW. <\/p>\n<p>While in Europe we refer to the Stage standard, in the United States it is known as Tier certification. The challenge is to help protect the environment while continuing to meet their customers\u2019 expectations by producing reliable, high-performance equipment\u2014without having to raise prices.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-9 sur-titre\"><p>Engine Solutions<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-10\"><p>Generator Set Engines: Exhaust System Solutions<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-11\"><p>The mechanical components that help a generator set meet the Stage V standard are primarily found in the exhaust system.<\/p>\n<p>Technical solutions that address the two objectives of the Stage V standard, namely:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Reduce the toxicity and quantity of gases  <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are two systems that can be used for generator set engines:<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 <strong>The EGR valve <\/strong> <\/p>\n<p>It activates when the engine is running at low RPM to reinject partially burned exhaust gases. It is needed when the engine is slightly warm and running at <a href=\"https:\/\/delta-resistel.com\/en\/resources\/\">low load<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>\u2013 <strong>The catalytic converter <\/strong> <\/p>\n<p>It converts a large portion of the harmful gases (carbon monoxide, unburned hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides) into harmless gases (water, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen dioxide). It operates most efficiently at around 400\u00b0C, that is, when the engine is hot and under heavy load. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Reduce Particulate Emissions  <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Stage V engines must be equipped with a Particulate Filter (FAP). Its purpose is to capture particulate matter suspended in the exhaust gases and form a layer of soot. This deposit is burned off when the engine reaches operating temperature and the exhaust gases are hot enough.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-12 sur-titre\"><p>Role of the bench<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-4 fusion-sep-none fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-two\" style=\"--awb-margin-top-small:0px;--awb-margin-right-small:0px;--awb-margin-bottom-small:20px;--awb-margin-left-small:0px;\"><h2 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left\" style=\"margin:0;\">The load bank for testing, loading, and maintaining your equipment<\/h2><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-13\"><p>The main problem arises when your equipment is operating at low load. In fact, at low power, the engine will produce white smoke and a lot of pollutants because it does not get hot enough and the diesel fuel burns only partially. <\/p>\n<p>This effect is, of course, completely counterproductive in terms of the Stage V standard.
